Mr Josh Petterwood

Josh is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee, hip and shoulder surgery.

He has a particular interest in robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery being involved in the technique since its introduction to the Australian market in 2017.

He is an early evaluator of Corin’s BalanceBot system using OMNIBotics and the Apex Total Knee System.

Prior to joining Corin’s evaluation team, Josh was part of Smith and Nephew’s early market release of the Navio system where he provided education and training to existing and prospective Navio users in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Josh uses the Direct Anterior Approach in total hip replacement surgery, routinely using the OPS pre-operative planning tool to gain greater insights into each patients functional spinopelvic anatomy.

As a sportsman himself, he has a keen interest in the treatment of sporting injuries with a focus on arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder. This includes ACL reconstruction, multi-ligament knee injuries, meniscal repair and arthroscopic treatment of rotator cuff tears and shoulder instability.

Josh has a public appointment at the Royal Hobart Hospital where he is involved in elective orthopaedics, trauma and training junior medical staff.

Outside of the operating theatre Josh is a father of two young boys and a keen road cyclist.

Peter is an Anaesthetist with a keen interest in anaesthesia and post-operative pain management for orthopaedic surgery.

He completed his training in Western Australia and worked as a Consultant Anaesthetist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth.

Peter is a fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and a member of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists.

Peter, his wife, and two children returned to Tasmania in 2015 to be closer to family.

Away from work Peter enjoys adventures with his family, exploring Tasmania.

Dr Hamley Perry

Dr Hamley Perry is a General Practitioner with more than 25 years’ experience in community primary care.

His clinical interests include working with patients to reach their optimal health as well as injury management and rehabilitation. He was drawn to Orthopaedic surgical assisting in 2012 and has made this a regular component of his work.

Hamley joined the Petterwood Orthopaedics team in 2016.

Hamley is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He obtained his medical qualifications at the University of Tasmania.

Hamley enjoys spending time with his wife, Leanne, and two daughters.

Katrina is an accomplished and dedicated nurse with over 15 years’ experience, working in a wide range of specialities including Orthopaedic, Intensive Care and Paediatric services.

Joining Petterwood Orthopaedics in 2018, Katrina is passionate about providing our patients with a comprehensive pre and post operative journey.

Katrina, originally from Melbourne, is a keen runner and can often be found running the pavements or exploring her adopted town with her Husband and two young children.

Katrina holds a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) and a Masters of Management.

Emma Petterwood
General Manager

Emma is a specialist in brand, marketing, culture, leadership and communications in the corporate and small business worlds. Throughout her career, Emma has built and led teams during periods of growth, change, and impact.

She Co-Founded Petterwood Orthopaedics with her husband and Orthopaedic Surgeon, Josh, in 2016.

Prior to leading Petterwood Orthopaedics, Emma spent more than 10 years working in a variety of communications management roles within the Finance and Logistics industries.

Emma has always been passionate about leadership, culture and how organisations work, from her first leadership role as Sports Captain of her Primary School. She’s passionate about being an excellent manager, and empowering teams to grow and thrive.

Emma is a qualified Yoga Teacher and when she’s not on the mat she’s riding her bike with Josh or spending family time with their two boys, Charlie and Leo.

She holds a Bachelor of Communications – Public Relations at the University of Queensland and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing and Writing, Editing and Publishing. Emma is also a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organisation (Melbourne Chapter).

Cass has dedicated her career to practice management with a focus on the specific needs of Specialist Surgeon Practices. With over 20 years’ experience in the health care industry Cass has been able to develop a unique understanding of medical systems, processes, patient needs and is able to clearly communicate pathways to solution.

Cass has streamlined many complex issues into clear and simple pathways with our patients and referrers feeling supported and cared for, creating a stress-free experience for everyone.

Weekends for Cass are all about her family, Julien her husband and their two small children Axon and Saskia. She values a simple life with family traditions and they are often spotted at the local playgrounds, nature reserves and beaches.

She joined the Petterwood Orthopaedic team in October 2020. She strives to provide an extraordinary patient experience with emphasis on delivering care with compassion, empathy and understanding.

She believes in living life to its fullest with her husband Mat and two children Ruby and Isaac.

Marselle is a lover of the great outdoors and enjoys long hikes and weekends spent camping.

She is passionate about Tasmanian food and wines and enjoys exploring our beautiful state.
